A última vez que escrevi neste blog ainda estávamos na primeira década do século XXI. O mundo ainda não tinha tido um Presidente Trump, nem tínhamos passado por uma pandemia. A Europa não tinha uma guerra e não estávamos à beira de mudanças climáticas irreversíveis (embora para lá caminhássemos a passos largos, porque estas coisas não se dão de um momento para o outro).
Eu também não tinha três filhos e uma posição de professora associada nos EUA. Não tinha vivido no Estado do Indiana e no Estado da Carolina do Norte. Não falava farsi e nem fazia ideia quem era Rumi (sobre Rumi teremos tempo para falar).
Sobre todas estas mudanças falarei atempadamente e sempre à sombra das minhas leituras. Estamos já a terminar o primeiro quarto do ano de 2023 (até já entrámos na Primavera) e decidi que era hora de ressuscitar este blog. Primeiro porque não encontro blogues literários em que me reconheça (hesitei ao escrever esta palavra...soa pretensiosa, mas é o que este blog é...). Segundo porque muitas destas mudanças que ocorreram na minha vida também alteraram os meus hábitos de leitura (mais pormenores em posts futuros) e me sinto mais equipada para ter coisas a dizer sobre literatura.
Espero que desse lado esteja alguém interessado e se for o caso, comentem, sugiram, perguntem, e sobretudo: "sejam curiosos e não furiosos".

The last time I wrote on this blog, we were still in the first decade of the 21st century. The world had not yet had a President Trump, nor had we experienced a pandemic. Europe didn't have a war, and we weren't on the verge of irreversible climate change (although we were moving there with great strides, because these things don't happen overnight).
I also didn't have three kids and an associate professor position in the US. I had not lived in the States of Indiana and of North Carolina. I didn't speak Farsi and had no idea who Rumi was (we'll have time to talk about Rumi).
I will speak about all these changes in good time and always be inspired by my readings. We're already finishing the first quarter of 2023 (we're already in Spring), and I decided it was time to resurrect this blog. First, because I can't find literary blogs (I hesitated when writing this word...it sounds pretentious, but that's what this blog is...) where I recognize myself. Second, because many of these changes that occurred in my life also changed my reading habits (more details in future posts), I feel more equipped to have things to say about literature.
I hope that on that side, someone is interested, and if that's the case, comment, suggest, ask, and above all: "be curious and not furious".
